Karla R. Wood is a formally trained pianist and vocalist with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education: Instrumental-Vocal from the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.  While at the University of Idaho, she studied piano extensively with Dr. G. Jay Mauchley and received additional piano coaching from Mrs. Catherine Allen, Mrs. Sandra Mauchley, Dr. Steven Spooner, and Dr. Chris Thompson.  Karla's strong interest in voice prompted her to add the vocal endorsement to her degree.  As part of those requirements, she studied voice with Mrs. Claudia Krone and Dr. Chris Thompson.  In addition to the requirements of her degree program, Karla accompanied and performed collaboratively with many vocalists and instrumentalists, exposing her to many professional vocal and instrumental teachers as well as formal training in collaborative performance.

She completed her Bachelor of Music degree in 2006, Magna cum laude with a 3.91 G.P.A.  and was awarded the Music Teachers National Association Student Achievement Recognition Award.  She has since taught bands and choirs in both Texas and Idaho.  Karla maintains an active schedule as a teacher, pianist, trombonist, and vocalist, often accompanying students for festivals, competitions, college auditions, and community events.  She continues to perform regularly with the Treasure Valley Swing Band.
